This is my action by action video on how I clean my 10 gallon, sand bottom, live planted aquarium.
You can dig the siphon pipeline or vacuum pipeline (really exact same thing) into the gravel about an inch and lift back up, if you do not have actually sand., if you have live plants be conscious around the roots so they do not get damaged
